A.THANGAL KUNJU MUSALIAR (1897-1966)


Born in 1897 January 12, in the historic town of kollam in Kerala state of India in an ancient muslim family which claim descendency of Malik Ibnu Dinar, the earliest muslim missionary who arrived in India in the 8th century A.D

By his great efforts and hard work he established several factories in south India.He was known as the "cashew king" of India during his life time,having established 26 cashew factories and several ancillary units like tin fabrication factory,tile factory, saw mill, Tug and Barge services etc."Furtune Magazine" of U.S.A has identified him as the biggest employer of teh world as a single individual in 1940's.

He was a great visionary , a plilonthropist, social reformer and educationalist.He has established in Kerala state an Engineering college (T.K.M college of Engineering: Kollam)and an Arts and science College (T.K.M College of Arts and Science; Kollam;Kerala)during his life time. These institutions are affiliated to the University Of Kerala and are well known for its excellence in high education in India in science ,Technology, humanities and Social Sciences.TKM trust , which was formed by him, now runs an institute for management studies also.

Mr.Musaliar hs found a press and a newspaper by name "Prabhatham"(meaning Dawn).

He is also renowned for his great leadership in organizing Social movements for the upliftment of the downtroder.He organized the Muslim Maglis Movement and janekshemam(peoples welfare) which attracted several thousand people in Kerala state, India.
